Welcome to the Christian Church of Wilkinsburg!

We are a "come as you are" kind of church, where folks from all walks of life truly welcome each other as brothers or sisters in Christ. We are a safe place in a world of hate and division, where we practice Jesus' radical Agape love for one another while celebrating our differences in race, politics and theology. We are a mission outpost making a real difference for Christ in our urban neighborhood. In fact, we are known for putting folks to work their first time with us! We are a place of hope and healing for the wounded, addicted, abused, grieving and discouraged within our church family and out on the streets where many will never walk into a church building. We are real - real people joyfully wrestling with how to be real Disciples of Christ in a world in desperate need. Come and see how we listen and act on God's Word for such a time as this.

Hybrid Worship

Join us at 10:30 every Sunday morning for worship in our beautiful sanctuary or on-line on our church’s YouTube channel

Get an inside view of our church online in this beautiful virtual documentary series. The Wilkinsburg Sacred Spaces Tour was created by the Religious Architectural Heritage Committee of Preservation Pittsburgh to highlight the amazing architecture and history of Wilkinsburg’s churches. Because of Covid-19, a scheduled in-person tour was replaced by a video documentary project. Click here for more - Christian Church of Wilkinsburg is featured in the 3rd video in the top row!

Covid Precautions

Our board is watching closely the CDC recommendations for Covid precautions. We recommend wearing your mask into the building and then removing it once you are settled in your seat – if you are fully vaccinated. If you are not vaccinated, we recommend keeping your mask on. Those who lead us in worship have all been vaccinated.

CT Youth Club

Every Saturday, our Mills gym is open to the youth of the community for recreation and basketball. A snack is served and a devotion time to inspire healthy living is also offered.  Children aged 5–12 come between 5–7 pm followed by teens aged 13–18 from 7:30-10 pm.

Currently our program is closed and we are hopeful to reopen the CT Youth Club soon in 2024. Check with the church at 412. 241.3556 to see if we have been able to restart with new staff. CT stands for Coming Together for Coming Times with Christ’s Teachings!

“SO YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT RACE”: A SUMMER BOOK STUDY & FAITHFUL CONVERSATIONS

Sundays 1:30–3
Last Fall session: November 14

We join our friends at the Bethany Memorial Church in four Faithful Conversations based on the book, SO YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT RACE. The book was written by an African American, Ijemo Oluo, to help white and black folk talk about race. This book is required reading by all freshmen at Bethany College and has proven to be a great conversation starter. Some of the topics covered in her conversational and practical style of writing include white privilege, affirmative action, microaggressions, policing, the school to prison pipeline and what to do if you have been called a racist.

We hope you will join us for this next phase in our journey of racial reconciliation. Please invite friends and family. Though the book will guide us, if you don't have time to read, do not let that keep you from being with us!
